Take a Flying Leap: Polar Plunge is Back
Whatever your preferred form of entering the icy waters at Muskego County Park, it's for Special Olympics, and a lot of fun to boot. Here are the details to be a plunger or a chicken on Feb. 10.
Â
Muskego County Park will again be the site of hundreds of crazily-clad 'plungers' who will risk their comfort (and perhaps their dignity) for a great cause as they dive into the park's pond.
The 2013 Polar Plunge will be held on Sunday, Feb. 10 to benefit Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI). Plungers consist of individuals and teams of people with a warm heart and a bit of a tough skin. If you can't imagine yourself leaving dry ground, you can still register as 'Too Chicken to Plunge' and you can raise pledges, earn incentives, and stay dry.
Last year, just over 400 individuals participated in the Muskego Polar Plunge, raising more than $110,000 for SOWI. Muskego was also host for the first time for Special Olympics regional competition in May of 2012, and we are told they will return again this year to Muskego High School.Â

There will be an early check-in event at Matty's Bar on Wednesday, Feb. 6 from 5 - 8 p.m. to avoid the crowds at the park.
Speaking of which, parking will be available throughout Muskego County Park, and shuttle buses will make continuous rounds throughout the park between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to get you to the event site on the beach.

On site check in and registration begins at 10 a.m., with the first of the plungers going into the water at noon. Matty's will be serving up hot food from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., and live music will keep the crowds entertained under a heated tent.
