Tammy Gibbons to Leave District at End of School Year

Director of School Performance says she will miss working for Muskego-Norway, but takes the opportunity to work in Elmbrook District and much closer to home

It could be another year of resignations and new hires at Muskego-Norway Schools, as Tammy Gibbons announced she will be leaving the district at the end of the school year in June.

The announcement came Monday night during the school board meeting, and Superintendent Kelly Thompson said Gibbons' tenure was short but praised her efforts as Director of School Performance.

Gibbons started as principal of Muskego Elementary about six years ago, moving into an interventionist position in the schools shortly after. She has been a district administrator for just three years. Her new position at Elmbrook is Director of Elementary Education.Β

She told Muskego Patch that "it's going to be tough to leave the people I work with, but what I will be doing is closer to what I love. I started off working with elementary schools, and I will be doing a similar job to what I am doing now but with a focus on elementary education for five schools." She added that the job placed her only minutes from home, and given some late nights for board meetings, the shorter commute would be welcome.

Earlier, Assistant Superintendent Dennis Bussen announced his retirement, and the board is currently in the midst of finding his replacement before the end of the school year. Scot Ecker also left his post as Director of Business Services, being replaced by Julie Kelly.

In addition, the departure of Superintendent Joe Schroeder last year triggered a series of promotions and vacancies at the district as well as in school administration positions.
