Tess Corners Streetscaping Costs Come in $15K Lower Than Expected

Extending the renovated of look of the new Janesville Road east through the Tess Corners area, Muskego won't need to spend as much as originally thought to add

Tess Corners will also see changes on Janesville Road to match the improvements to the streetscape of the Muskego downtown area, and the good news is that the sticker price isn't as high as originally thought.

All-Ways Contractors bid of $56,307 came in much lower than the estimated $72,000 that Community Development Director Jeff Muenkel had given the Finance CommitteeΒ when the idea of extending the refreshed look on Janesville to its eastern gateway was discussed almost a year ago.

"We are looking at what can be continued to mimic the streetscaping, including adding lower-cut plantings in the medians and adding nicer landscaping on either side of the street there," he said in May of 2012. "The addition of banner poles on street lights would also continue the image from the downtown area.

The cost of the project was expected to be covered by funds leftover in the city's Janesville Road budget.

The Finance Committee and Common Council approved the bid Tuesday night.

Crosswalks near Golden Country Estates, atΒ Kohl's,Β Waukesha State Bank, and by Lincoln Point are also included in the plans.Β 

There was no confirmation on specific dates for the median work to begin.
