Community Corner

Thank You, Muskego

A fantastic year needs recognition, and it starts with you.

I have much to be thankful for....really, we all do.

However, I am aware I have a rare position, where I get to meet people from all corners of the city. Getting to know all of you is a job requirement.

And I am humbled by your heart and determination to make a difference in the city, no matter what side of an issue you take. We've had plenty in the city and throughout the state to create divides but from my unique perspective, the public good is at the heart of what the vast majority of people do, not personal gain.

I am grateful for our volunteer-driven organizations that do amazing things that everyone can enjoy, and really give the city a welcoming feel.

I am grateful and humbled by our police and fire personnel.  It's not always a smooth relationship between the press and these organizations, and my hope is that I've treated matters with appropriate sensitivity.  I am thankful for the work you all do, and the trust you have given me.

I am grateful for our aldermen, mayor and board members who spend a ton of time, often paid little or nothing, to help plan the city's progres. Again, I don't agree with all of them, but I appreciate their committment to Muskego.

I am grateful for our businesses - while some scoff at Muskego becoming a destination, please do so in quieter tones.  These people's livelihood depends on it - and you - to make it happen.

Most of all, I am grateful to you, our readers. Some express concern when I meet them over 'mean' things said in comments, especially when they're directed at me.  I didn't take the job to keep people quiet.  I took it to tell people what's going on and encourage discussion.  You have embraced us over the year, and I am humbled by your trust.

When I took over the helm in late February, we had 49 'likes' on Facebook, and about as many followers on Twitter.  We're now at 324 and 187 respectively.  You rock!

I wish you all great family and great football today along with a great feast.  For your efforts with the , many in our community will indeed have a feast that they would not have been able to afford without it.  God Bless.
