What's the Weather Like? Ask the Gingerbread House

The bakery inside is the barometer for what's going on outside at Muskego's farmhouse restaurant and bake shop, the Gingerbread House.

It's been a cold and snowy introduction to March, which means chocolate is a hot ticket at the Gingerbread House in Muskego.

"It's kind of crazy - people seem to shift their tastes depending on what it's like outside," said owner Tracy Bohrer.

Chocolate might seem to be an eternal favorite, but she said it loses its luster once the weather gets warmer.

"We start to see more of the lighter desserts become popular, and chocolate seems to take a back seat," Bohrer explained.

What's hot when the weather's warm? Fruit-laced tortes and cakes, which might seem lower in calories perhaps to those worried about what too many calories might do during the months when we aren't bundled up so much.

However, some desserts are too good to pass up, no matter what the calendar says.

"Hands down the favorite is the turtle cheesecake, which seems to do well no matter the weather," Bohrer said.

So what was the weather like when we stopped in? Mostly Oreo Overload Brownie.
