Who's on April's Ballot: Kevin Kubacki, 6th District Aldermanic Candidate
A newcomer to Muskego's political landscape, Kevin Kubacki hopes to continue his interest in involvement representing the city's rural residents.

While it's been a much more placid year on the Common Council, the effects of the contentious atmosphere that the lake park proposal brought seems to still be resonating.
After a withdrawn recall attempt of 6th District Ald. Neome Schaumberg, who was in favor of a city purchase of land that would be used as a public park on Little Muskego Lake, and her recent announcement that she would retire at the end of the term, it wasn't clear if anyone would want to step forward.
However, Kevin Kubacki did and while he's the lone candidate running for the D6 seat, he's hoping to continue to heal what many saw as a rift on the council.

"I previously had been on the Board of Realtors, which was in a similar situation and I feel that I was able to bring those members together. It's important for me to work with people as a team, and bring some harmony to decision-making," Kubacki recently explained to Muskego Patch.
His background rests in the financial industry, working with large and small banks and lenders. He served in senior positions with Marine, Universal, Sears and Regal Mortgage Corporations since 1980 and most recently as a senior loan officer with Pyramax Bank.

A resident of Muskego "for about a dozen years" on Lake Denoon, Kubacki said he's always been a person who felt "you should be involved in the groups and organizations for the things that impact your life." Â He said he's gotten to learn a lot more about his community in his trips going door-to-door meeting people, and was hoping to bring their concerns forward whenever they occur.
"Overall, things run pretty smoothly in this district, but I think there needs to be better connection with the mainstream of the community. People like this area's rural nature, but it's important to be aware of the 'downtown issues' that impact everyone here."
Kubacki said that the Parkland Mall land and lawsuit has been an "embarrassment that still resonates with many here in the district," and he hoped that there could be progress during the next term to move something forward on the site. However, as an alderman, he said he wanted to promote more efficiency on the council in getting things done.
"I'd like to work with the council to perhaps show a little more trust in the staff that's making the everyday decisions, and not have to discuss again those issues that have already been decided through the budget process," he said.
Kubacki will join Eileen Madden (D7) and Rob Glazier (D4) in running unopposed for their respective districts in April's general election. Rob Hammel and Butch LeDoux represent the only contested race in District 2.
