Why Were the Police At MHS Lunch?
Extra steps in the waning days of the week before Christmas break is hoped to make students feel more secure.

After several school districts reported rumors of threats as the week progressed, the parents of Muskego High School Students received the following note from principal Ryan Oertel:
"Dear MHS Parents/Guardians,
As you may be aware, some schools in our neighboring communities have been experiencing various student and staff safety concerns since last Friday. While MHS has been able to proceed with our normal school day, in an effort to be proactive, please note that the Muskego Police Department has been generous enough to provide additional police presence during our lunches and passing times today and tomorrow.
We are grateful for their partnership and support to help keep student and staff safety our top priority.
Wishing each of you a beautiful Christmas and holiday!
Ryan Oertel
MHS Principal
Oertel told Muskego Patch on Wednesday that security was being increased even though no such threats surfaced at MHS. Nerves are admittedly raw after the school shooting in Newtown, CT last week Friday.
