UPDATED: Winter Storm Warning in Effect Until Noon Wednesday
Winter Storm Rocky wasn't expected to pack much of a punch in southeastern Wisconsin, but intensity of major system has upgraded initial advisory to a Winter Storm Warning for lakeside counties.

This article has been updated to reflect the upgrade of the snowfall to a Winter Storm Warning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for portions of our area.
Another major winter storm, dubbed "Rocky," will stay largely south of Wisconsin, opting instead to deliver a blizzard to the central plains for the second time in less than a week.
Nevertheless, the National Weather Service has upgraded the Winter Weather Advisory that was initially posted to a Winter Storm Warning for lakeside counties of Sheboygan, Ozaukee, Milwaukee Racine and Kenosha as well as Walworth and Washington. All other counties in much of southern Wisconsin remain under a Winter Weather Advisory, according to Patch's media partners at WISN 12.

Strong winds and snow will continue overnight with 2-4" of snow overnight in Milwaukee. Expect 1-2" to the north and 3-5" south of Milwaukee. The wind will be very gusty but this is heavy wet snow so there will not be blowing and drifting issues, but it will be hard to shovel. Totals of 6 to 8 inches are expected in far southeastern corner of the region, with about 3 to 6 inches expected north and west.
If you are traveling south, however, check your flight first, as near-hurricane force winds are expected in Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas, with tornadoes likely in the warmer portions of the region.
