Worth Remembering: Local Vets Share Stories

It bears repeating: freedom isn't free. This past week we've had the honor to tell stories from four local veterans from three different wars, and whether it's been their health, their livelihood or a large piece of their time, sacrifice is the common denominator for them all.

So, it's worth repeating the offer to listen in to their stories, to reflect, remember and be grateful.

- an Iraqi War veteran who was shot in the head and is still struggling to reach a new normal in the world.

- a Vietnam Veteran, who spent about four years at sea in support of the troops in various theatres.

- a 'fallen' soldier, whose story is made more poignant in her passing earlier this year.

- a Vietnam War nurse who served stateside for returning troops.

We thank them for sharing their experiences with us, and thank all who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country this Memorial Day.
