New Berlin Parking Lot Eyed As Possible Coronavirus Testing Site

NEW BERLIN, WI—New Berlin Common Council will meet at 1:30 p.m. via Zoom on Friday to discuss a possible coronavirus testing site. The council with discuss approving the use of Malone Park tennis court parking lot as a coronavirus testing location by Summit Clinical Labs, according to online city documents.

Summit Clinical Labs, 15350 W. National Ave., was originally looking to provide a drive-thru temporary testing location at the old Walmart area. The documents said Malone Park tennis court parking lot will provide better access with the possibility of less traffic issues than the Walmart area.

Hours of operation are anticipated to be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday thru Saturday. No power or water are needed. This location would not be used beyond 2/28/2021 without further Council approval.

Summit Clinical Labs wants to move as quickly as possible in setting up a testing site. Topics of consideration will be:

• Emergency Access for the PD & FD
• Any adverse impacts to traffic flow or parking
• Snow Removal Considerations
• Lighting
• Malone Park Playground & Tennis Court considerations
• Hours of Operation
