'Safety Concerns' Moves New Berlin Veterans Day Event Outdoors

"We preferred not to go strictly virtual and would never consider cancelling the event entirely," mayor said.

NEW BERLIN, WI— New Berlin opts for outdoor Veterans Day ceremony due to the pandemic. New Berlin Mayor Dave Ament will conduct the annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 6 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the New Berlin Veterans Memorial located at the corner of Casper Drive and National Ave.

“Due to safety concerns, we moved the venue to outdoors. We preferred not to go strictly virtual
and would never consider cancelling the event entirely,” stated Ament in a news release. “I encourage all residents to dress warmly and join us for this time-honored tradition honoring those who have served this Country. The serenity of the Veterans Memorial site should be quite lovely in the evening hours.”

Casper Drive, in front of the Veterans Memorial, will be closed for the ceremony. Residents are
encouraged to enter the area from Stigler Drive off of National Avenue or Casper Drive north of
the Memorial. Parking will be available along Casper Drive, Stigler Drive and in the parking lot
of Malone Park. Limited seating will be made available to attendees. Residents are encouraged
to bring their own lawn chairs.
