Astronautics Corp. Relocates Model Shop To Oak Creek, Finalizing Move

Astronautics Corporation has finished consolidating its Milwaukee-area facilities to Oak Creek, the company announced Wednesday.

OAK CREEK, WI — Astronautics Corporation recently finished consolidating its Milwaukee-area facilities to Oak Creek, the company announced in a news release Wednesday.

The company said it is the first time its headquarters, model shop, repairs, quality, production, engineering and support are under one roof. The third and final phase was relocating the company's mechanical engineering prototype operations, or model shop, from Milwaukee to the recently renovated headquarters in Oak Creek. That wrapped up in late July.

The move began at the start of 2020, and the former manufacturing facility near 14th Street and National Avenue is now for sale, the company said. The company finished relocating its production facilities to Oak Creek in March.

Astronautics designs and manufactures equipment used in commercial and military aircraft. Main product lines include flight displays, connected aircraft solutions and electronic flight bags. Founded in 1959, the company also owns New Jersey-based Kearfott Corporation.

The Oak Creek headquarters was designed to enhance collaboration and innovation, according to the news release. The 190,000-square-foot facility is adjacent to Drexel Town Square, located at 135 West Forest Hill Avenue.

“Co-location of all of our Milwaukee-area facilities has a direct impact on collaboration," said Tom Servais, manager of Astronautics’ model shop.

"The design process is enhanced because engineering, manufacturing, and repairs have convenient access to fabrication and environmental test. Additionally, our new facility provides us with room to grow our operations with a talented, high-tech workforce that will design, fabricate, test, and build cutting-edge aerospace products that will make flying safer and more secure," Servais said in the news release.
