Gun Accidentally Fired In Oak Creek PPG Parking Lot: Police

Police in Oak Creek say a man accidentally fired his gun inside his truck while parked at PPG when he tried showing the gun to a friend.

OAK CREEK, WI — A man who wanted to show his friend his pistol in the parking lot at PPG Industries said he self-reported a shooting incident to police after the gun accidentally fired while he and the friend were seated in a truck.

According to police call logs, a 40-year-old Franklin man was sitting in his gray Ford F-150 pickup truck with his friend on the evening of July 1 when he wanted to show his friend his pistol.

According to police call logs, the man was showing his friend the pistol when he removed the gun's magazine and racked the slide, discharging the gun inside the truck's cabin where the two were seated.

Police said the man went to the police department to self-report the incident. When police investigated, they reported finding the spent round and bullet damage inside the cabin.

Police said the man had a valid conceal carry license in Wisconsin. No citations were issued as a result of the incident, police call logs indicated.
