IKEA Plans On Raising Starting Wage To $16 Per Hour
IKEA U.S. announced Tuesday it will raise the company's starting wage to $16 per hour across its U.S. stores. The raise begins in January.

OAK CREEK, WI — IKEA U.S. announced Tuesday it will raise starting wages across its U.S. stores to at least $16 per hour in January. The raises come alongside changes to employee benefits and after one of the company's most successful years to date, IKEA said in a news release.
The new starting wage will apply to full-time, part-time and seasonal employees across the U.S. According to IKEA, the changes will bring the average hourly wage among its 17,000 workers to $20 per hour. The company also announced enhancements to its benefits, one of them being five weeks of paid time off for co-workers.
In Oak Creek, there is an IKEA located at 7500 Ikea Way, near Interstate 94 and Drexel Avenue.

IKEA said it had one of the most successful years to date with $5.89 billion in sales of goods and services so far in 2021, a 25 percent increase over last year.
IKEA's announcement comes as companies across the U.S. are trying to find better ways to attain and retain employees. Recently, Amazon said its average starting wage is $18 per hour, though the company's minimum technically still rested at $15 per hour.
