OAK CREEK, WI — The BelAir Cantina location in Oak Creek was able to reopen just days after a car crashed into the restaurant on Jan. 19, restaurant ownership said in a statement on Tuesday.

The spot re-opened for dine-in, takeout and delivery on Jan. 21. The restaurant is aiming to be back to 100 percent "very soon" amid the process of reconstructing the damaged areas, said BelAir co-owner Kristyn Eitel in a statement. Operating hours remain the same as before.

The crash came hardly a month before the debut of the Fire and Ice Pop-up, an event created by the city and restaurant which is set to bring music and special drinks to Drexel Town Square.

Two employees were inside when the car crashed into the restaurant around 9:30 a.m., but they were in the kitchen and were not injured, Eitel said. After the crash, authorities were able to determine that the restaurant was safe and secure to re-open, Eitel said.

The re-opening may be a relief for those looking forward to the two-day Fire and Ice Pop-Up, which is set to feature live music from Gabriel Sanchez and No Signal, LED performances by Fox Valley Artists, s'mores, the fire and ice margarita, hot chocolate and more.

The festivial may look a bit different than planned — a spokesperson for BelAir ownership, Wes Shaver, said the fire pits and ice bar are not returning to Oak Creek for the time being.
