CUDAHY, WI — The former Kmart in Cudahy may soon be converted into a Sears Hometown Store, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

A sign that states "Sears Hometown Store Coming Soon" has been added to the front of the location, the report shows, and a few job positions have popped up as hiring for the location, but start dates and salary details are not shown.

The former Kmart location was one of the last holdouts after the nationwide retailer went under. It finally closed in 2019. A new Sears Hometown Store, part of a locally owned and operated chain that has persisted since Sears big bust, would likely offer home appliances, tools and garden supplies, the company's website shows.

The site's current zoning status would not need any changes for the Sears Hometown Store, and more details of the store change have yet to emerge from Sears.
