Ald. Becker Decides Against Run for Mayor
Two candidates remain after Ald. Dan Becker officially decided against running in the race for the next mayor of Port Washington.
Ald. Dan Becker has decided not to run to become the next mayor when Scott Huebner leaves his post this spring, meaning Ald. Jim Vollmar and former Perry Duman remain as the only two known candidates for the spot.
"The thought process was never about me being mayor, per se, but more being about what I can do to best serve the citizens of Port Washington, best serve my family," Becker said. "In weighing all that, I came to the conclusion that I’d be better off just doing what I’m doing now."
Becker also sits on the Ozaukee County Board and is the Port Washington Common Council's president. Though he is passing this time around, Becker said he might be interested in seeking the mayoral spot sometime in the future.
