Cable Line Causes Neighborly Dispute

A Port Washington resident says her cable line has been cut twice in the past couple months, and the neighbor she blames says he believes she's stealing the cable — but he denies cutting the line.

Two Port Washington neighbors are caught right in the middle of a he-said, she-said situation after the woman called police to report her cable line had been cut, blaming the neighbor.

Port Washington police responded to the 300 block of South Spring Street on March 23 after the resident called to report her cable line being cut.

Upon arrival, the woman told officers this was the second time it has been cut in three months, and that she believes her neighbor did it — though she doesn't have proof of this.

Officers were eventually able to speak with the accused neighbor, who told officers he believed the woman was stealing cable, the report said. In fact, the neighbor had told a representative of Time Warner Cable who had been in the area recently about this. The representative said he would look into it.

The neighbor had in previous incidents reported to police that he believed she was stealing cable, the report said. Officers advised the man that whether she was stealing cable was of Time Warner's concern and not his; he told officers he "understood, but again denied cutting the cable."
