Saturday Tasting Event Helps Teens, Families Dealing with Cancer
The One Book One Community: A Taste of Giving Back event will take place April 20 in the Thomas Jefferson Middle School cafeteria to benefit the organization This Star Won't Go Out.

Inspired by this year's choice for the One Book, One Community program, Patch as well as the W.J. Niederkorn and Oscar Grady libraries are organizing a tasting event to benefit This Star Won't Go Out (TSWGO), an organization that helps families who have teens or children diagnosed with cancer.
The rare tasting fundraiser event will feature samples from a variety of local businesses, and costs $10 to enter — all of which will benefit TSWGO. Bracelets supporting TSWGO will be sold for an additional $5, also to benefit the organization. A $5 suggested donation is asked for kids under 10 years old; children younger than 3 are free.
The event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 20 at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in the cafeteria. Patch will also host a free photo booth at the event, and Booker, W.J. Neiderkorn's dog mascot, will make an appearance for pictures.

The event will also feature a raffle with prizes, including TSWGO T-Shirts and copies of "The Fault in Our Stars," by John Green — this year's One Book, One Community choice and the inspiration for donating to TSWGO. Learn more about the book in this blog post from Annie Bahringer, adult services director from the W.J. Niederkorn Library.
