Man Takes Fiery Approach to Popping the Question

Editor's note: Looking back on 2012, there were a lot of ups and downs experienced by the Port Washington and Saukville community.

While the good times are often easier to remember, it's important to also take note of the tragic events that mold the community and bring its members together — and to never let go of the memories of those we have lost, who meant so much.

This series of Top 10 stores in Port Washington and Saukville takes a look at some of the most memorable moments here this year. The No. 6 story features Joe D'Acquisto's proposal to Jes Sarnow. The two were surrounded by friends and family on New Year's Eve 2011 when they went to see the fireworks in downtown Port Washington.

The Grafton couple, who had been dating a little more than two years, snuggled close as they watched the fireworks fly. Just before the grand finale across the inlet, a sign ignited that read: "Jes Will You Marry Me?" 

As Jes realized what the sign read, Joe quickly got down on one knee and showed Jes the ring.

"Yes! Of course!" She screamed.
