UPDATE: Cause of Siren Malfunction Still Unknown

The warning siren system blared throughout the night Sunday and into Monday morning, and city officials are still working to sort out the cause.

Sounding of the warning siren system throughout Port Washington early Monday morning was a malfunction, not an emergency, according to the Port Washington Police Department.

Port Washington Police Captain Michael Keller said they were still working to sort out the issue and have the sirens fixed at about 9 a.m. Monday morning.

The police department's phone stayed busy with calls during the night about the mid-night alarm, but reassured residents there was no emergency to be aware of.
