SHOREWOOD, WI — HIYA Taco at 4144 Oakland Avenue permanently closed on Friday, according to Kristyn Eitel, a co-owner of the restaraunt.

People affiliated with the restaraunt groups Mojofuco and Toro Toro Toro Inc., responsible for numerous BelAir Cantina locations and other local restaurants, opened HIYA on Oakland Avenue in 2020. Eitel confirmed the closing to Patch in an email Monday without further comment.

The building had previously housed The Ruckus, a burger joint. HIYA had served up street tacos and other fare. A report from The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel published when the spot was announced in 2019 said the business had plans for tacos, burritos, bowls, churros and more.
