Naked Man Perched In Shorewood Apartment Jumps, Swarmed By Police

Police surrounded an apartment near Maryland Avenue and Capitol Drive Friday afternoon where a naked man was perched in a window.

SHOREWOOD, WI — Police surrounded a building on the corner of Maryland Avenue and Capitol Drive in Shorewood Friday afternoon as a naked man perched in a second-story window made noises and later jumped to the ground, a Patch reporter saw on scene.

The man was suffering from a mental health crisis, Shorewood Police Chief Heather Wurth told Patch in an email. The man's injuries after the fall appeared minor, and nobody else was hurt, Wurth said.

Police officers and neighbors surrounded the apartment building as the scene unfolded.

By 2 p.m., the man jumped from the window and officers swarmed him on the ground. Some officers had weapons drawn.

An ambulance from North Shore Fire Rescue arrived and authorities loaded the man as he continued to make noises.

The man was brought to a medical facility and will be provided mental health services, according to Wurth.
