Route Set For Returning Criterium Classic Bike Race: How To Volunteer
The Tour of America's Dairyland returns to Shorewood in June. Here's how to experience it or take part in running it.

SHOREWOOD, WI β Organizers of the Criterium Classic bicycle race are now seeking volunteers to help out with the event when it returns to Shorewood in June.
The race is coming to the Village as part of the annual Tour of America's Dairyland. The tour leads races across the Milwaukee area over 11 days in June. Those looking to hop on their bicycle to take part in the races can register online.
More details about the Shorewood race, such as its route and the party planned around it, were recently published on the Shorewood Business Improvement District's website. There are 10 race categories for the June 24 race, ranging from events for kids to ones for professionals.

The starting line is located at Lake Bluff Boulevard on Oakland Avenue. When the races kick off, cyclists will travel in a loop around Oakland Avenue, Olive Street, Maryland Avenue, and Kensington Boulevard, according to the Shorewood BID website. Races will take place between 10:55 a.m. and 8:15 p.m. that day.
Volunteers are being sought to help out with keeping racers and fans on the proper side of the barricades. The volunteer race marshalls and corner guards will get a reflective vest, plus a free t-shirt to take home. There are several timeslots to choose from while volunteering, and Shorewood High School students may have the opportunity to earn National Honor Society volunteer credits. Volunteer registration can be done online.

A block party is planned to take place alongside the race. Hosted by Three Lions Pub, the Kensington Square block party will offer live music, a bouncy castle and face painting from 5-8 p.m., plus outdoor dining.
For those who live in the immediate area of the race, there are a host of road closures and parking concerns to be aware of. Roads on the course will be closed from 8 a.m. to about 10 p.m. and parking will not be allowed on the course, according to the Shorewood BID.
If you live inside the route, vehicle access across the race will only be available at the intersection of Lake Bluff and Maryland Avenue.
