Despite threats of a boycott of Shorewood's , store owner Anne Nehring said she hasn't seen much backlash from shoppers- just support. Two customers came in and told co-owner John Nehring, they were organizing a boycott of the store at 4027 N. Oakland Av.
Some 350 people packed the Shorewood High School auditorium Monday night to get a picture of how Gov. Scott Walkerβs proposed biennial budget will affect them. What they saw was a grim portrait of deep cuts that will affect almost all aspects of the community.
Leaders of an effort to recall state Sen. Alberta Darling (R-River Hills) may be optimistic about their chances to unseat the senator, but a poll released Tuesday indicates they may have an uphill battle on their hands. The poll by the Daily Kos and Public Policy Polling says Darling would win in a recall election with 52 percent of the vote to 44 percent to an unnamed Democratic opponent. The poll has a 2 percent margin of error.

Since 's inception in 1922, the student newspaper, Shorewood Ripples,Β has been the longest-running vehicle at the high school for students to learn both excellence in journalism and to generate and write stories that are relevant to students and the wider Shorewood community. Not only does the paper have thousands of alumni who proudly stayed up night after night to get editions to press, the paper has a legacy of a tireless, highly motivated teacher at the helm who is personally dedicated to those students and to journalistic integrity. The current advisor, Mike Halloran, is no exception. He stresses the importance of this tradition of excellence at Shorewood.

Milwaukee developer the Mandel Group said Friday it hopes to break ground on a new six-story, $32 million retail and apartment development on North Oakland Avenue by fall. There is a sense of urgency to begin work on the proposed development that would occupy the entire property that serves as the Sendik's parking lot, as it creates a new home for Shorewoodβs Walgreens.
