Shorewood Police Sergeant On Administrative Leave Accused Of Being Drunk During St. Patrick's Day Duty: Report

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office performed sobriety tests on Shorewood Police Sgt. Theron Rogers after he was suspected of drinking.

SHOREWOOD, WI — Shorewood police officers suspected that Police Sgt. Theron Rogers could have been drinking based on an odor of alcohol on Friday, St. Patrick's Day, just before 11 p.m., reports mynorthshorenow.com. A lieutenant on duty confronted Rogers and determined that the odor did indeed smell like alcohol.

The Shorewood Police Department took the matter seriously and, per department protocol, asked the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office to investigate.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office performed sobriety tests on Rogers, and the tests revealed that he had a BAC of twice the legal limit at 0.16.

Rogers is facing the following charges: endangering safety, a misdemeanor, for having a handgun under the seat of his vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He could face up to nine months behind bars.
