Shorewood Snapshot: Garden Room Rezoning Petition Vote; School Board Candidate Interviews

Here's a look at what's coming up this week in Shorewood. If we're missing something, please add it to the calendar.

Village rules on Garden Room zoning petition — Shorewood's Village Board is slated to vote on a petition filed by Garden Room owner Deb Kern to have the home at 3940 N. Frederick Ave. rezoned. 

If the petition were granted, Kern would have the house razed to make way for an environmentally friendly parking lot for her customers. Find the full agenda here. 

The village's Plan Commission voted against granting the petition. 

The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. and will be held in the Village Center, 3920 N. Murray Ave. (lower level of the Shorewood Public Library). 

School Board candidate interviews — Nine candidates will interview for an open seat on the Shorewood School Board during an open meeting 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the Shorewood High School Library, 1701 E. Capitol Dr. The School Board will interview each candidate for 20 minutes.

Officials will then meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday to select an applicant to fill the seat. 

Student concerts — Music students at Shorewood High School will put on their chamber orchestra and singers concert Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Kingo Lutheran Church, 1225 E. Olive St.

Then on Thursday, the winter choir concert will take place at 7 p.m. at Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Dr. Both events are free and open to the public. 

Preps sports — The Shorewood High School boys basketball team will travel to Pius XI on Tuesday and host a game against Wauwatosa West on Friday. Both games start at 7:30 p.m. 

The girls basketball team will host Pius on Tuesday and travel to Wauwatosa West on Friday. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.

The high school will host a boys swimming meet on Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Wauwatosa West and East.

All home games are played at Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Dr.
