Hamilton Student Named All-State Scholar

Unfortunately, there's no scholarship for this year's "scholars."

Julie Posh, a senior at who lives in Menomonee Falls, has been named an All-State Scholar by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

This year, for the first time in about two decades, the honor will be all prestige and no scholarship. Compensation for the award was eliminated in a recent Congressional resolution to cut federal spending, according to DPI.

“Wisconsin’s All-State Scholars are among our highest-achieving students," State Superintendent Tony Evers said in a statement. "Their academic accomplishments are truly remarkable and worthy of praise.

“I encourage these students to pursue their dreams of postsecondary education even though they will no longer receive a federal, merit-based scholarship to accompany being named an All-State Scholar,” Evers said.

The state has more information about the All-State Scholars selection process and criteria, as well as a list of all students honored statewide.
