Maggie Feng named Distinguished Young Woman of Wisconsin for 2024

Finals showcase culminated in a week of preparation and community activities

On Saturday, Aug. 8, Maggie Feng of Brookfield Central High School was named Distinguished Young Woman of Wisconsin for 2024 and presented with a college scholarship of $5,000 during the Wisconsin State Finals.

Following a selection process in her town of Brookfield, Feng traveled to the state finals last weekend with 13 other state representatives to participate in community activities and prepare for the state competition.

Before the presentation, which was held at the Saber Center for the Performing Arts in Franklin, participants were evaluated in the Interview and Academic categories.

During the evening presentation, emceed by Fox 6 Morning News Anchor Nikola Junewicz, the participants performed in the Talent, Self-Expression and Fitness program.

Feng amassed $6750 in college scholarships through her participation in the Distinguished Young Women program at the state level alone, plus additional scholarships at the local level.

In addition to serving as the state representative of Distinguished Young Women of Wisconsin for the next year, Feng will prepare to participate in the DYW National Finals next June in Mobile, AL.

Founded in 1958, Distinguished Young Women is a free program that encourages participants to reach their full individual potential.
