Where Did My Yard Signs Go?

A 58-year-old Sussex resident called police on April Fools’ Day after noticing his yard signs were missing from his house on the N69W23000 block of Michele Lane. One sign said “Stand With Walker,” and the other was promoting the local . Police say they usually don’t follow up with these minor offenses unless there are multiple cases in a short period of time that could be related.

Hit & Run with a Conscious

Sunday, April 1 at 7:28 p.m.
Police were called to the parking lot on April 1 after someone struck a car with another vehicle and drove away. Two days later, a 17-year-old teen from Hubertus drove to the police station and confessed to hitting the car and driving off. The owner of the car that was hit at the Sussex Bowl is a 25-year-old man from Sussex.

Drugs Smell Even When They’re Not Smoked

Monday, April 2 at 8:13 a.m.
Police pulled over a car at the corner of Silver Spring Drive and Waukesha Avenue, but what started as a routine traffic stop turned into something more. The police officer could literally smell the fresh, un-smoked marijuana in the passenger seat compartment. It was so strong that the officer thought it warranted a vehicle search. He found a baggie of the drug along with a pipe. The driver, 32-year-old Andrew Meilus of Slinger, was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Check Who’s Watching Before Committing a Crime

Monday, April 2 at 9:40 p.m.
A 33-year-old Sussex man called police after he saw someone forcefully back into another car on the N59W23000 block of Clover Drive, but immediately speed off. He was so close to the incident, he could see and record the driver’s license plate number. Police eventually caught up with the driver that night, a 25-year-old Milwaukee woman. She was charged with unsafe backing and a hit and run.

Lost Your Bag of Thief Supplies? Police Found It

Friday, April 6 at 2:57 p.m.
While its still under strict investigation, police found a duffle bag filled with goodies and gadgets related to a slew of vehicle thefts in the Sussex area in 2011. Rule to the wise: Don’t lose your bag of tricks.
