Registration for Drivers Ed Under Way at Hamilton

Registration for spring drivers’ education – including theory, simulation and behind-the-wheel – is underway. Completed forms with the $350 in fees will be accepted at the high school office during school hours or by mail before Jan. 19.

Students who will be 16 years old by Aug. 31, 2012 are eligible to enroll in all three phases of the program.

The theory phase begins on Jan. 31  and includes 15 two-hour classes that begin at 3:30  p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The theory phase covers the Motorist Manual, rules of the road, seat belts, insurance, car ownership and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The simulation, which starts the week of March 5, is five simulated experiences which cover turning, expressway driving, rural roads, winter and snow, hazards and collision traps and split-second decisions.

Behind-the-wheel includes six two-hour lessons held after school and Saturday mornings for students who have passed written, vision and sign tests at the Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles Department.

Fees are $350 for the full program. Seating is limited, and priority is given to the oldest students. For more information, please contact Hamilton Drivers’ Education Coordinator Jackie Rottler.
