Sussex Art Student of the Month: Kim Inthavong

Kim Inthavong was announced as the April Art Student of the Month Tuesday. 

Inthavong is a student at Hamilton High School. Here's a little more about here art in her own words: 

My portfolio consists of pencil and pen drawings from class projects and sketchbook assignments.

Break Time – Here a person is holding a pair of bright red chopsticks about to eat a bowl of ramen. They’re taking a break from their work, in this case their drawing.

Copy Cat – My personal theme for term 3 was drawing stuffed toys from direct observation and drawing my own version of it with my mind’s eye. For this I drew a stuffed cat and mouse and redrew it into a more realistic version. The cat sees the toy as “copy-cat” of its appearance.

Kunoichi – This was a self-portrait that was done in class. It was me with a scarf holding a kunai and paper ninja stars. “Kunoichi” is a female ninja in Japanese.

Lanterns In the Night – This was my first sketchbook drawing for my personal theme for term 1. My theme was drawing fantasy backgrounds. The setting in this drawing is a Japanese village at night with lanterns hanging.

Panda Hero – A continuation off of “Copy Cat” and the theme of stuffed toys and drawing my own version. This time I drew a stuffed panda in the grass with my own version of it, the “Panda hero”.

To See or Not To See – A sketchbook assignment we were required to draw three pairs of realist eyes. The three pairs of eyes (from top to bottom) are my own, a friend’s eyes, and my little sister’s eyes.
