VIDEO: Power Outage Caught on Camera by Sussex Patch Reader

While standing on his porch watching the thunderstorm, one Sussex resident caught the power outage on video.

With a issued overnight, it's no wonder some Sussex residents woke up to the flash of lightning and the boom of thunder.

But over at Jay Duncan's house, it was much worse. His home in Sussex was one of the 9,000 in Lake Country that lost power due to stormy weather, according to the Sussex Sun.

"We lost power for a few hours," Duncan tweeted at Sussex Patch. "A real window rattler!... Thunder woke me up. Was good to see some serious rain for once!"

And when the storm rolled in, rather than attempt to fall back asleep, Duncan jumped out of bed, ran outside and recorded a 16-second video of the downpour. About half-way through, the entire street goes black from a power outage.

He later uploaded the video titled, "Bye Power" to YouTube.

While Sussex Patch reader Karen Swanson didn't take a video, she was also out of bed during the early morning hours watching the storm roll in.

"I was standing on my porch at 1:45 watching the rain come down sideways," Swanson shared on our Facebook page.
