Civic Center offices will be closed; however, the main lobby will be open for PROPERTY TAX PAYMENTS ONLY from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, December 30, and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, December 31.

- Deputy Clerk: One of the most essential functions of the Deputy Clerk is the provision of external customer service, including supervising four part-time Administrative Assistants who serve as the first point of contact for residents calling or visiting the Civic Center. Additionally, this position prepares and distributes agendas, minutes and other accompanying information for boards, committees and commissions; oversees the records management program; issues permits and licenses; assists with the coordination of the cemetery; and performs the duties as required by state statute relating to elections. This position also serves as the backup for the Administrative Services Director (Clerk/Treasurer). The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., plus some evening hours a for Village Board and committee meetings. The salaried pay range for this position is $52,305 to $68,412 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. - Rental Attendants (Part-Time and Flexible Schedule):Β The Village of Sussex is looking to add a few members to our team of Rental Attendants. Rental Attendants work a flexible schedule, primarily on the weekends, and are able to select which events they would like to work. This position offers an extremely flexible schedule for those looking to make some extra money, but aren't able to commit to a set schedule or specific number of hours weekly. Rental Attendants are tasked with providing on-site support and excellent customer service to renters at the Civic Center and The Grove.Β
- Wastewater Operator: The Village operates a Grade 4 regional treatment facility serving residents in the Village of Sussex, Village of Lannon, Lisbon Sanitary District #1, Richmond School, and a portion of the Village of Menomonee Falls. Wastewater utility work includes plant maintenance, lab work, lift station maintenance, collection system maintenance, response to sewer backups and more.Β Wastewater Operators are part of the Public Works Department, which is responsible for a wide variety of tasks, including street maintenance, stormwater utility, water utility, and special projects. All Public Works Employees are expected to assist in all the identified areas; however, the majority of time for this position will be spent working for the wastewater utility.Β Experience in wastewater plant operations, lab work, and equipment maintenance is required. Possession of a valid Wisconsin βAdvancedβ wastewater operator certification in subclasses: A1, B, C, P, D, SS, and L is preferred. The successful candidate must possess a valid Wisconsin Driverβs License, as well as a Class A CDL and tanker endorsement, or be able to obtain within six months of hire. Once training is complete the candidate will join the 9-week on-call rotation. This will consist of responding to after-hour emergencies and weekend duties. This candidate must also be available from December 1 to March 1 for snow plowing.Β The Village offers a competitive wage range of $23.38β$32.54, DOQ, as well as a competitive benefits package including insurance (health, dental and life) and participates in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) and more.Β

Property Taxes
Property Tax bills are mailed by Waukesha County by the third Monday in December, based on information on file at the Register of Deeds office on November 1.Β Property tax bills can be paid in two ways:
- In full by January 31;
- In three installment payments, which are due January 31, March 31 and May 31. If you miss a due date for an installment payment, the entire balance becomes due.
Payments can be made:
- In person at the Civic Center during business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday)
- After hours and on weekends in the night drop box located in the vestibule of the Civic Center on the north (parking lot) side of the building;
- Online at villagesussex.org;
- By mail (Sussex Civic Center, N64W23760 Main Street, Sussex, WI 53089).
The Joy Tree: December 6β16
The Joy Tree sits on the first floor main counter at the Sussex Civic Center, decorated with gift idea tags. Community members are invited to choose as many tags as they wish and return the wrapped gift(s) to the Sussex Civic Center no later than Friday, December 18. The gifts are distributed by Sussex Outreach Services.
Christmas Tree Collection: January 3-31
Staff will make several passes through the Village to collect Christmas trees.
- Please remove all decorations from the tree and place it at the curb.
- Do not place the tree in a plastic bag.
Assessor Office Hours: Thursday, January 13

Associated Appraisal Consultants, the contracted Assessor for the Village of Sussex, will hold office hours at the Civic Center. This is a chance for residents to meet with the assessor with questions about their most recent tax bill and assessment. No appointment needed; walk-ins welcomed. Questions?
