2nd Person Dies On Lac La Belle In Less Than A Week
Just days after a swimmer went missing on Lac La Belle in Oconomowoc, another went missing. Both have died, according to authorites.
OCONOMOWOC, WI — A swimmer went missing Sunday afternoon on Lac La Belle, becoming the second person to die on the Oconomowoc lake in the span of less than a week, according to the Western Lakes Fire Department.
Authorites received the call about the possible drowning just before 3:45 p.m. The day prior, authorities said they had recovered the body of another person who went missing on the lake on Thursday.
Witnesses said a 35-year-old man from Milwaukee was on a pontoon boat with friends and swimming in an area northwest of Islandale when he went under the water and didn't come back up, according to the WLFD.

A search began and was suspended around 9 p.m. Before one of the boats returned to shore, however, it located an area of interest with sonar, prompting dive teams from the Waukesha Sheriff's Office and Western Lakes Fire District back into action.
Authorites found the man in about 11 feet of water, west of Blackhawk Drive, WLFD said.
