After 27 Years, Waukesha's Deputy Police Chief Retires
The leaving deputy chief said he felt optimistic about the department's future and that the new team will take it to the "next level."

WAUKESHA, WI — Waukesha's deputy police chief has celebrated his last day on the force and plans to work security for the Milwaukee Brewers next.
Deputy Police Chief Dennis Angle served his last day for the Waukesha Police Department on Tuesday, he told Patch in a phone interview. He joined the department in 1995 and was promoted from Captain to Deputy Chief in 2011.
"It's been a rollercoaster ride," the deputy chief said about his last day, "Just a great day with great people."

The best part of the job was the relationships with sworn officers, and also working with support roles like dispatchers and clerks who took care of extra work like reports so officers could remain on duty longer, Angle said.
Since he started the job, Angle led training sessions both in the department and at Waukesha County Technical College, he said. One thing he hoped was for his training to have an effect on students to keep them safe, capable and resilient enough to stay in their careers for longer.

Angle was hired to work as the Senior Manager of Security for the Milwaukee Brewers, the "best team in American baseball," he said. He has been a Brewers fan since growing up in the 80s, a big time for the team.
Meanwhile, the Waukesha Police Department will turn the deputy chief position into two assistant chief positions, Angle said. Two police captains will be promoted to the roles in the near future.
The departing chief said he was optimistic for the future of the department. "It's important to feel like the place you work is better than when you left it," Angle said. "This new team will take it to the next level."
