If you've got spruce or pine trees that look like they are dying, they might have a fungal disease called cytospora canker.
Peter Traczek, forester for the City of Waukesha, said the disease is caused by drought conditions and mainly affects mature evergreen trees. Homeowners might be able to get help from a tree service that might recommend a treatment. But those don't often work that well, he said.
