Fire At Scrap Metal Business In Big Bend: 3 Counties Respond To Blaze
Some residents nearby may have heard booms as the fire reached propane tanks at the Big Bend business, authorities said.
BIG BEND, WI — A fire Sunday evening at a scrap metal business in Big Bend broke through the building's roof and required fire departments in three nearby counties to respond, the Big Bend Fire Department announced in a Facebook post Monday.
Firefighters forced entry into the building and managed to knock the flames down, the fire dept. said. Amid the flames, some residents may have heard loud booms from propane tanks evacuating, authorities said.
Authorities were called out to the scene at Kral Scrap Metal just before 8:30 p.m. Before firefighters even arrived, flames had fully involved the building, the fire department said.

Departments from Walworth, Racine and Waukesha counties responded to the scene. Several agencies from counties beyond also assisted as the box alarm level was upgraded.
The business recycles materials, and was closed the week before the fire for the 4th of July holiday, the fire department said. Nobody was inside the building when the fire broke out, and nobody was injured, according to the agency
