Mayor Scrima: The Waukesha Family Has Rhythm
"We are the birthplace of Les Paul – innovator of the electric guitar – and the only small town Gibson GuitarTown. We are home to thousands of caring families, responsible business people and gifted artists."

The Waukesha family has rhythm. We are the birthplace of Les Paul – innovator of the electric guitar – and the only small town Gibson GuitarTown. We are home to thousands of caring families, responsible business people and gifted artists. And by bringing our tax levy in tune the last three years, in 2012 we were the only city in Wisconsin to make Money Magazine’s list of “Best Places to Live” in America.
Welcome to Waukesha, where we are amplifying our values of empathy, responsibility and creativity.

So stroll down our Riverwalk, or just sit and talk. Skip through the Frame Park formal gardens to our children’s library. Grab a steaming cup from one of our unique coffee shops. Drop by for a class at historic Carroll University – the state’s oldest four-year institution of higher education. From the largest Farmer's Market in the county to Freeman Friday Night Live, we've got fresh food and fun music, inside and outside. Head to an Art Crawl to see galleries of original art from innovative people – highlighting the vitality and vision of our community.
Speaking of community front porch events, our Farmer’s Market opens this morning and we have an Art Crawl this evening, and mark your calendars to feel the down beat of Freeman Friday Night Live and GuitarTown on June 7th. So sip some fine wine, grab an appetizer, or dine outdoors at any of our specialty restaurants while you discover a town flourishing on many fronts.

Our goal is to become the No. 1 best small city in America by 2018.
