Monday's Memorial Day events in Waukesha honor veterans who have given their lives while serving our country.

Memorial Day gives us a moment to thank and honor our military men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Waukesha has several ways you can honor veterans this Memorial Day.

In the battlefields of Belgium during World War I, poppies grew wild amid the ravages of war.  The overturned soils of battle enabled the poppy seeds to be covered, allowing them to grow and forever serve as a reminder of the bloodshed of war.
