Nani Negron's Smile Touched Students, Staff at Carroll University
One week after 24-year-old Waukesha mother was killed, police say by 26-year-old Eddie Callaway, Carroll University held a vigil in her honor.
One by one, friends, students, food service employees and Carroll University staff members came forward talking about Shanel "Nani" Negron's smile and the impact the small things she would do to brighten their day.
Negron, 24, was killed April 22 after being shot in the head. The Carroll University food service worker left behind her family, including her 3-year-old daughter Jaslene.
One student. was terrified of being bullied like he was in high school when he started at Carroll University. It was a smile from Negron that helped him adjust to a new life.

Another student came to Carroll University from California. As a freshman, she was nervous about how to use her student identification in the dining hall. "I just want pizza," the student recalled telling Negron, who asked her why she was so nervous.
Negron put the student at ease with a quick joke, questioning why anyone would move from California to Wisconsin.

"Little things matter," said the Rev. Joe Medina during the candlelight vigil honoring the 24-year-old Waukesha mother who was killed April 22 at the corner of Summit Avenue and North Moreland Boulevard.
Waukesha police continue to seek the man who has been charged in Negron's death, 26-year-old Eddie Callaway, who is a felon with a violent past and ties to the Indianapolis area.
