Waukesha police said officers were met by the caller and were told that the person seen inside the apartment pointed an AR-style rifle at another person. Police said the caller indicated they believed the man with the gun was still inside of the apartment, and had never seen him until that evening.

Waukesha police said officers set up a perimeter on the building which contained three apartments.

"In order to keep the officers, residents, and citizens in the area as safe as possible the HUMVEE was utilized," Waukesha police said. "Numerous announcements for the suspect to exit the building were met with no response."

Police said officers were able to use a throwbot — a surveillance robot that can be tossed into location to gather information with the use of a camera.

According to police, officers then checked inside the apartment with the Waukesha County Sheriff's K9 officer.

Police said the apartment was empty. Other parts of the building were also cleared and nobody was located inside. There were no signs of forced entry and nothing was reported stolen, police said.
