Police Chase In Waukesha County Lasts 24 Miles

A juvenile from Milwaukee faces charges related to a stolen car pursuit on Wednesday.

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI— The Hartland Police Department was involved in a police pursuit of a stolen car on Wednesday.

An officer spotted a stolen car and tried to make a traffic stop. The car didn't stop but sped away, Hartland Police said.

The stolen car caused caused two traffic accidents by striking a car in the Village of Pewaukee and striking another car in the City of Waukesha.

Police were assisted by the village of Pewaukee Police Department, Waukesha County Sheriff's Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and city of Waukesha Police Department.

The pursuit, which lasted a distance of 24 miles, was terminated in the city of Waukesha, Hartland police said.

The Hartland Police Department was able to identify the driver as a male juvenile from the City of Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Police Department arrested the juvenile and turned him over to the Hartland Police Department, according to police.

The Hartland Police Department referred the following felony charges to the Waukesha County District Attorney’s Office on behalf of the male juvenile driver:

  • Operating a Motor Vehicle without Owner’s Consent
  • Second-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety
  • Knowingly Fleeing an Officer

The male juvenile was turned over to the Waukesha County Juvenile Center Secure Detention
Facility. This incident remains under investigation by the Hartland Police Department.
