Waukesha Parade Deaths: Resources Available At Carroll University

The resources for community members affected by the violence at the parade are available Tuesday and Wednesday.

WAUKESHA, WI — Waukesha community members affected by the violence Sunday at Waukesha's Christmas Parade can find resources at Carroll University.

The resources — from government and nonprofit agencies — are available Tuesday and Wednesday at the university located at 100 North East Ave, according to information from Waukesha County.

The Campus Center Ballroom, where the resources will be open Tuesday from 2 -6 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

At least five people were killed Sunday when an SUV plowed through groups marching in the parade.

At least 48 others were injured in the incident, including several children. Ten children remained in intensive care, officials with Children's Wisconsin in Milwaukee — which has the state's largest pediatric intensive care unit — said in a news conference Monday.

The resource center will provide mental health services, a lunch meal and other resources for victims and members of the community, the county said.

The Waukesha County District Attorney’s Office Victim Assistance Program will be onsite, along with staff from the Department of Justice Crime Victim Compensation Program, as well as the American Red Cross and other community organizations.

“Our goal is to provide one stream-lined location where victims and their loved ones can receive support, referrals to needed services, information about financial assistance and crime victim compensation and many other resources,” said Jennifer Dunn, the director of Waukesha Victim Assistance.
