U-Haul Offers Month Of Free Storage For Waukesha Condo Residents
As of Friday, 65 residents were evacuated.

WAUKESHA, WI — U-Haul offered 30 days of free storage for the 65 displaced residents at two Waukesha condo buildings.
The Waukesha Fire Department ordered the evacuation of Horizon West Condominium Homes, 315 N. West Ave., on Thursday night because of deteriorating structural conditions at the building, the city said.
“U-Haul is here to help residents in need of a safe place to store their belongings,” said Adam Muszynski, president of U-Haul Co. of Southeastern Wisconsin, in a statement. “We’re a strong member of this community and will be here to support our neighbors. We are ‘Waukesha Strong’ and will get through this together.”

According to a structural engineering report, the building is at imminent threat of collapse.
Residents were given a short window of time Saturday to gather items such as medicine and clothing, condo resident Alicia Halvensleben said.
Halvensleben told Patch residents were given were given 15 minutes on Thursday night to grab whatever belongings they could.
"It's weird. It's like [being in] a fire, but things are destroyed. They are there waiting for us," Halvensleben said of the rest of her belongings.
