WAUKESHA, WI— A greenhouse is being proposed as part of the School District of Waukesha and Waukesha Parks Department's environmental education program.
The Waukesha Plan Commission will consider the minor site plan and architectural review at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to online city documents, the applicant, the City of Waukesha Public Works Department, is seeking approval of its plan to build a small greenhouse structure near the EB Shurts Center in the Fox River Sanctuary.

The building will be located just to the north of the parking lot, adjacent to several existing garden beds. It will be screened from Prairie Avenue and the parking lot by several large trees, the documents said.
The building will not have base panels as shown in the photo in the plans.

Students will either carry water or bring hoses from the EB Shurts building to water the plants. A security camera attached to the EB Shurts building will deter vandalism.
Phase 1 installation, which will take place in July of 2021, will include the greenhouse only. An ADA accessible path from EB Shurts to the greenhouse will be installed as Phase 2 in May of 2022.
The Parks Department will monitor the use of the greenhouse in the meantime and install a temporary gravel or woodchip path if necessary to prevent a cattle path trail from forming, the documents said.
