WAUKESHA, WI — After a middle-aged man approached a child who was walking a dog in Waukesha Tuesday afternoon, authorities said they are investigating the situation as a possible attempted abduction.

The juvenile was walking near Green Country Road and Oak Grove Lane around 1 p.m. when the man approached alone on foot, according to a news release from the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office. The child was not injured in the encounter and the man was last seen walking south, authorities said.

By Tuesday evening, the sheriff's office said they stopped searching the area for the suspect after unsuccessful attempts to identify him, though authorities are continuing to follow leads as they develop.
