Waukesha 8-Year-Old, Grandfather Die In Watertown Plane Crash: Reports
A student from Waukesha's Summit View Elementary was among two people killed when a small aircraft crashed in Watertown, a report said.
WAUKESHA, WI — A student at Waukesha's Summit View Elementary was among the two people killed in a small plane crash in Watertown Wednesday morning, according to a report and authorities. The pilot, 73, and his 8-year-old grandson were both killed in the crash, according to WISN.
The small propeller plane took off Wednesday morning from the Watertown Municipal Airport before it crashed near Brandt Quick Park around 9 a.m., police said. Watertown police on Thursday confirmed that there were two people killed in the crash, but authorities did not identify them.
FOX6 News was the first to identify second-grader Colin Strebe as the student who was killed.

A page was sent up on the website GiveInKind to support the family after Colin's death with meals, gift cards, messages and more. The webpage also said a memorial fund is being set up for Colin.
The support page for Colin's family noted he loved the Upward Sports Program at the Fox River Christian Church.

"It is there that Colin learned not only how to be a better athlete, but also how to be Christlike - on the field and off," the memorial page said. "All donations will go towards a Pavilion that will be a place of joy for hundreds of current and future athletes and their families."
In the aftermath of the student's death, Waukesha school officials compiled resources for parents and children going through grief.
"Colin was a valued member of our school community and will be deeply missed by all who knew him," said Waukesha schools in a letter sent to families on Friday. "Colin was an exceptional student who brought so much joy, enthusiasm, and kindness to our school and will be fondly remembered."
A team of student services professionals was scheduled to be available at Summit View on Monday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for support.
Watertown is located about 27 miles northwest of Waukesha and about 42 miles northwest of Milwaukee.
