Yoga Classes back at UWM at Waukesha

UWM at Waukesha offering Yoga Fundamentals class this summer.

It’s time to roll out your yoga mat and explore the physical and mental exercises that this practice can introduce you to. Yoga has the power to calm the mind and strengthen the body. UWM at Waukesha Continuing Education is excited to offer community members a chance to learn the benefits of yoga. This class is designed for the beginner, or anyone that would like a better understanding of yoga basics. The class will set aside yoga terminology, fancy poses and the traditional studio - yoga is meant to feel inclusive, welcoming and… good! Participants do not have to be a yogi to reap the benefits - yoga, and this specific series, is for all levels — beginners welcome!
During this 6-week session, participants will learn the building blocks of yoga, including the fundamentals and will break down the importance of breath (and properly linking breath to movement), and will also take time for reflection and pause. Participants will explore different yoga class types (ie: Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, etc), and will have the opportunity to learn mindfulness and meditation. Participants will have time to play around with different poses with the use of yoga props - all while creating space to support the nervous system, reduce stress and anxiety and build resilience.
Class will meet on the below dates and is a collaboration with campus credit students and non-credit community members:

  • June 12, 19, 26
  • July 3, 10, 17

Yoga will meet 5pm-5:50pm with lecture to follow. Community members may opt to stay for the lecture. Find out more information at https://ce.uwc.edu/waukesha/ca...
