Meet Einley, Our New Columnist

I am a mom and I tweet.

I tweet because I am a mom.

 I started tweeting on Dec. 28, 2008, eight days before my fourth child was born.  I began with following news outlets, favorite stores, celebrities and some mom blogs.

 Twitter provided me with endless entertainment and information while I was up all night with my newborn son. It turned out that my son would never really get into the habit of sleeping, and two years later, I am still tweeting.

 
My tweeting has evolved from going on Twitter while not sleeping,  to tweeting during the day while grocery shopping, schlepping kids to various activities, cleaning and other every day events. There is always something interesting to read or a conversation to jump into.

Most of my tweeting occurs at night after all of the kids have gone to bed, and beer in hand, I catch up on Twitter. Instead of zoning out to "Law and Order" or the latest reality show, I tweet. Or if there is a show on that cannot be missed ("Glee"), I can jump on Twitter and discuss the show with others who are watching.

Tweeting does not take time away from my kids, but instead, in bits and pieces throughout the day, helps restore my sanity from the craziness of raising four kids.  My kids are 12, 9, 6 and the sleepless wonder 2-year-old. They provide me with constant material to tweet about, and I can get immediate feedback from others – whether it be advice, commiseration or just a shared laugh.

I have built up an amazing network of local friends through Twitter. My first local follow was @MegMcKenna, the executive director of the Wauwatosa Chamber of Commerce and from her, my local connections have grown exponentially.

I will be writing about all of my Twitter shenanigans and about the adventures of being a mom –  a tweeting mom!
